I really enjoyed Mrs. Krause's speech. I got to hear from a Jew who's lifestyle is so different from mine, although we are both Jews. What she spoke about was extremely interesting. I completely agree with her that it is more dangerous to travel on the "icy road", for it is slippery, and we have to be extra careful, or we could slip off the road. Since we are so exposed to the secular world, we have to be careful to only take the good things into our lives. If we are exposed to too much it can hurt us. I think she is the almost the ideal modern orthodox Jew. She maintains a completely Jewish lifestyle, while still watching documentaries, and is somewhat involved in the secular world. However, I do not think that what any of us Ma'ayanot students are doing is wrong. Everyone struggles, and we are doing a fine job at being Jewish while still being a bigger part of the secular world than she is. We live in a society where it is a wonderful thing to go to college, and for women to learn gemara, and get a job. Mrs. Krause definitely exemplifies a wonderful Jewish woman, but I think we do too in most respects. I respect her very much, and think she is very intelligent for being able to understand the important values in life. I think we all have a lot to learn from her!
