MRS. KRAUSE= IDEAL MODERN ORTHODOX

Mrs. Krauses speech was brilliant. I think she clarified exactly what Rav Lichtenstein's image of modern orthodoxy is; we are not living up to what we should be. We all take upon ourselves a huge challenge to balance the secular world and our religious world. It is a struggle, and in my opinion, we are failing (or at least I am).

I definitely still believe in modern orthodoxy and its values. I think there is much to learn from the secular world that can enhance our relationship with Hashem, but, I do not think the modern orthodox community is doing the best job at discerning what can actually benefit us and what is purely secular.

After Mrs. Krause's speech I was very upset about the way I live my life. I realized how secular I and the community I live in is- my judiasm should come first, and a lot of things in my life from the secular world are inappropriate for a Jewish girl. Maybe I'll become Chassidish.... :)
