Mrs. Goldberg..Yoetzet Halacha
I really enjoyed Mrs. Goldbergs speech about the triumphs and trials of being a yoetzet halacha in our community. I had never considered the fact that people would not accept yoatzot with open arms. To me, it seems like they are extremely vital in our community and play an important role in taharat habayit. Even though I understand the "slippery slope" analogy of women rabbi's, I don't understand how anyone could not realize how important yoatzot are. Being a yoetzet halacha requires a lot of work and sometimes embarrassing situations. Hearing about peoples personal lives can be awkward and it takes someone ready to become apathetic in order to listen to the community issues and questions. Before I heard Mrs. Goldberg's speech, I had already decided that one day I would like to become a yoetzet. Everything that Mrs. Goldberg talked about only reinforced my desire to become a yoetzet halacha.
